Roy C. Crecelius, 59, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
He enjoyed golfing, camping and scouting. Roy graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Minnesota. He was a FIGI alumni and FSU booster. Roy was involved with MDA, Habitat for Humanity and the United Way. He also was involved in his church, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a member of the Men's Club and the St. Jude Society.
He also accomplished much as a community leader. He contributed his time to many community organizations and served as a board member for the YMCA.
Roy gave his time and talent for the benefit of others and served as a shining example of service to the real estate profession and the entire community. Roy joined ERA Neubauer Real Estate as property manager in 1987 and was named Bay County property manager of the year in 1992 and 1993. He served as president of the Bay County Association of Realtors in 2000 and 2005 and became manager of ERA's Panama City Beach office in October 2001. He was a member of the faculty of the Florida Association of Realtors Instructors Academy and IREM. He was a licensed broker, a licensed Florida real estate instructor and a licensed property manager.
Roy is survived by his wife of 21 years, Catherine Marvin Crecelius of Lynn Haven, Fla.; one son, Tony Crecelius of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Sara Crecelius of Austin, Texas, and Rebecca Crecelius of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Clarissa Hutton of Austin, Texas; one brother, Samuel Crecelius and wife, Gail, of St. Paul, Minn.; two mothers-in-law, Barbara Dorminey of Panama City, Fla., and Mary Marvin of Macedon, N.Y.; four brothers-in-law, John Sargent of Palmyra, N.Y., Michael Marvin and his wife, Paula, of Macedon, N.Y., Perry Marvin of Springfield, Fla., and Rick Marvin and his wife, Theresa, of Bossier City, La.; four sisters-in-law, Judy Maxwell of Farmington, N.Y., Sharon Witt and her husband, Dan, of Lynn Haven, Fla., Sandy Collier of North Rose, N.Y., and Pam Maxwell and her husband, Tom, of Macedon, N.Y.; 23 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jerzy Zieba officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with a wake service at 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Tom Neubauer, Steve Butler, Rex Free, Brian Dusseault, Bill Kearns and Sean Stevens.
